How we research and rank twin mattresses for toddlers and kids, and what we do not do.

1. What we compare

• Age fit: what the brand says about age, how firm it rates the feel, and whether the top layer is memory foam for a young child.
• The bed it goes on: height against bunk, loft and trundle limits, and the foundation or slat spacing the brand requires.
• Materials and certifications: which certification covers which part of the mattress, since many cover one component only.
• Cleanup: waterproof, water-resistant or neither, and whether the cover really comes off and goes in the wash.

2. Where the information comes from

Brand specifications and warranty pages, certifier websites, AAP, CPSC and NIH guidance, independent reviews and patterns in feedback from verified buyers.

3. What we do not do

We do not run lab tests, and we do not claim to have used the products we cover. We do not accept payment or free products for placement. We do not show prices, because they change every day; you see the current price on the product page.

4. Updates

We review our picks when a product is discontinued, redesigned or renamed, and when better evidence appears. Corrections are welcome at [email protected].
