Please read this before acting on anything you read on Best Twin Mattress for Kids.
1. Not medical advice
Our guides explain how twin mattresses are built and who they tend to suit. They are general information, not a diagnosis, treatment plan or substitute for advice from a pediatrician or other clinician who knows your child.
2. What these products can and cannot do
A mattress is a place to sleep. We know of no study or medical body showing that a type or firmness of mattress changes a child’s back health, growth or height, and no mattress here is a treatment for allergies, asthma or bed-wetting. Firm-surface guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics is written for babies up to 1 year; twin mattresses in our guides are not intended for them.
3. When to see a professional
- Back pain in a child under 10, or back pain that is severe or does not go away.
- Bed-wetting after age 7, or bed-wetting that starts again after six months or more of dry nights.
- Snoring, trouble breathing during sleep, or ongoing trouble falling or staying asleep.
- Allergy or asthma symptoms that may be tied to the bedroom.
4. Your responsibility
Follow the bed and mattress maker’s instructions, including the maximum mattress thickness on a bunk or loft bed, and CPSC age guidance for upper bunks and portable bed rails.
